South Pond Engagement // Tanya + Sarah
Self proclaimed princess Tanya and rock star drummer Sarah took over the southern bridge leading to the Lincoln Park Zoo for their South Pond engagement session! When I say that we took over, I mean that we pretty much controlled the middle of the bridge for quite some time. Setting up a drum set, backdrop and lights was no easy job, however with five of us working as fast as possible the setup, shoot and tear down went just about as smoothly as it could.
Tanya and Sarah met online and have spent the last 3 years together! But let’s back up a bit to how we ended up at South Pond? Let’s go back in time to a trip that Tanya and Sarah took together to Paris and where Sarah proposed! Along with proposal the girls had a love lock in Paris which is an intriguing tradition. How it works is that sweethearts will put a lock on a bridge or fence with their names on it and then toss away the key to symbolize the unbreakable love between them. After they returned, Tanya also presented Sarah with a ring at North Pond! So before their photos at North Pond, we used the nice view of the southern portion of the Lincoln Park Zoo to capture some scenic rock photos with the city as the backdrop.
The image of them on the bridge came to mind when I first met them. There’s a juxtaposition to Tanya and Sarah that makes them appear almost like two people who are both orbiting one another. To put it in the simplest of terms they just “mesh”. But it’s not all fashion and rock between these two ladies. What might seem like a leather and lace exterior quickly melts away when their doggies enter the picture. Then you can’t get them to stop smiling even if you wanted to!
