Alex and Charlie were staying the weekend at the Kimpton Hotel Allegro which allowed us to photograph their portraits. It’s a hotel that I never get tired of photographing because of its stunning interior design and layout. Each time there’s a new angle or vantage point that I didn’t see last time. Photographing there is like coating your photographs in a sultry velvet. The property is one that I get excited to come back to every time.
But before Kimpton and Salvage One the day began with Charlie getting ready at home and Alex just a few blocks away. When you get ready at home it gives you the ability to kick back and relax a bit. That’s exactly what Charlie did with an Xbox controller and Alex did with a mini boudoir portrait. From there the couple headed to St. Ita Catholic Church for the ceremony which was conveniently a couple blocks away. St. Ita’s is a small yet stunning neo-gothic church that can’t be missed by anyone driving down Broadway.
Disclaimer that many of the photos you’ll see below were shot outside of Salvage One. This is because Alex and Charlie did their engagement photos there and wanted to have some variety during the wedding. What I’ve said before still holds true in that Salvage One is my personal favorite wedding venue. The eclectic look and feel of the location gives wedding photos a flavor of their own. So much so that I don’t mind lugging our gear up to the second floor for the reception each time.
