Not long ago, the editing team at Redfin reached out and asked what was my favorite spot to photograph. While I had to pick just one, there are quite a few that would make the top 10 list.
With that in mind, I’ll list my personal scenic picks below. Most of the spots are easily accessible and open to the public. Check out Redfin’s list with our feature here and then scroll below to see more. If it’s some of the top wedding venues you’re looking for, check those out here.
One word that applies to Chicago is ‘iconic’ and what better location than the Financial District as a prime example. The stark contrast of strong architecture has a timeless feel to it that is certainly “something different”. This was my first time there after sunset where I discovered that the mood changes entirely.
Staying in the city limits, we head north towards the Gold Coast in search of ‘nooks and crannies’. It’s not the first location that comes to mind but the beauty of the area is that you can wander and the scene changes almost every block. From ‘old Chicago’ style stores to beautiful parks and splashes of architecture, it’s an area you can roam for a full day.
I’ll be the first to admit that New York, like Chicago is big and scenic and a lot of fun. But there’s one key difference between the two that New York lacks. It’s not even something that most folks will realize until it’s pointed out but there are no back alleys in New York. That’s right, you’re not taking any shortcuts behind a building only to be boxed in by a delivery truck. Everything happens out in the street. Chicago on the other hand has some amazing alleys that show you “old Chicago” of what’s really behind those modern facades.
