The previous weekend I showed up to capture some formal family shots for the Dikin’s, and we were hoping to get in a few shots of just the kids playing around. However as with a lot of large group shots, time flies and we ran a bit short, so I came back a few days later and we got some more shots of just the kids. Of course Caesar the cat was happy to pose for a few portrait shots as well. Here we focused on getting a few posed shots, but then also letting go a little and going with a few natural ones. The family has one of my previously shot photos printed on a large canvas. When I saw the image sitting on a nearby table, I thought we could put Katya up on the other end and just do a fun little side by side shot. Also in image #5 below, I was up close and doing a number of happier close-up shots of Katya. Then when I stood up to make some lighting adjustments, I point my lens down at her, and quickly called her name. What resulted was a somewhat artsy/sad photo which is complimented by her slipper being off of one of her feet…one of my favorites. As for the close-up shots of Antosha, these were done with my 105mm macro lens. Mom held Anotosha and I sat across the room and just waited for the right moment, then clicked away when I saw his facial expressions change.
