The Nature Boardwalk located just south of Lincoln Park Zoo is iconically known for an art piece by Studio Gang. But during this engagement session, we decided to use the other elements of this exquisite Chicago environment.
To kick off, we began on the bridge that crosses over South Pond to the rear entrance of the zoo. This spot gives you two things that are very unique…a bit of nature and a bit of Chicago skyline. The one downer is that because this location is so popular, you may have to wait to capture “the shot”. Just off the bridge you’ll see lush rolling hills and some foliage that will take your images to an entirely different look and feel. A bit beyond that area, towards the lakefront and you’ll encounter a gorgeous area with the Ulysses S. Grant Monument. Frankly, the only limitation at the Nature Boardwalk is your imagination. It’s true that the art piece by Studio Gang is an easy go-to, but it’s ok to capture something different.
Finally, we wrapped the evening in an area of Chicago known as Streeterville. Since Chicago was still working on emerging from our lockdown, the evening streets belonged to the artists. Locations transform when you remove people and vehicles from the equation. That scene that you see day in day out becomes something completely different when you alter the elements. With almost no people or traffic, your eye can begin to wander and gaze at the beauty of manmade architecture. There are very few cities that have an iconic skyline and we’re fortunate enough to have Chicagos striking beauty as a backdrop. Since we’re now getting on track to be “back to normal”, you can still capture something unique and interesting by seeking out iconic spots at different times of day.
