Last year we had the wedding of Joanne and John.  Shortly after that, John’s sister Betty was engaged and we were planning out her and Theo’s engagement and wedding shoot.  Their engagement session was downtown near Millennium Park.  Both Betty and Theo wanted to feature Chicago in their photographs and since we knew that we wouldn’t make it down to the city on the day of their wedding, we planned out their engagement session there.

On the day of their wedding Betty and Theo got ready in classic family style at home.  From there it was off to the church for their first look as Betty emerged from the doors and down the center aisle.  The first thing you’ll noticed about most Greek churches is how ornately they are decorated and I made sure to incorporate the environment.  Father Dean conducted the wedding and he had also conducted the wedding for John on Joanne so my photographers and I were prepared for his rules on being very out of the way and not chewing gum .

After the ceremony we were off to the reception with a brief stop for some individual portraits in a park nearby.  The location was a wide open area with very little shade.  You may wonder why that would be a factor, but the sun beaming in your eyes and sometimes harsh light can be factors.  In this instance we found some amazing tall grass to photograph in front of.  From there we made our way just a few minutes down the road to the hall itself where the dances began and the dollars flew through the air all night!
