Classic Chicago is just sometimes the way to go for photos but with a slight twist. Regan spends a lot of her time dancing and being a dance and fitness instructor. When discussing ideas with the two of them we were leaning towards a “modern Chicago” feel and decided to work in Regan’s dancing into it! The story begins with the two of them both being at the same lounge (Violet Hour). Each one of them is there with their own group of friends and before you know it, Regan and Troy are on the dance floor and then some.
The day began with gathering our cast of friends at the Violet Hour. It’s a wonderful little lounge that has no signs or markings in front making it feel flirtatiously elusive. The session began with a staged bar scene. Folks grabbed their drinks and were more than happy to sit around and socialize on a breezy Sunday afternoon. As the session progressed so did the proximity of Regan and Troy and soon enough it’s as if they were the only ones out there.
Once the first part of the “boy meets girl” session wrapped, the three of us headed to the Public Hotel Chicago where we continued using the environment and city view for their images. The Public Hotel is one where you can spend a week photographing at and still not uncover half of the wonder. It’s an amazing hotel which is located north of the Chicago loop and is great when you want to get away from all of the hustle and bustle.
