Winters in Chicago mean that many portrait sessions or engagement shoots happen indoors. And while we are indeed toasty (and often well stocked on alcohol) during the shoot, it requires some precision lighting in some dark venues to both capture the images and keep the ambiance of the location. Needless to say that the Green Mill is the definition of dark. So after a bit of lighting setup and going over a few concepts we were ready to rock on this snowy and wintry day!
As we did a few styled shots at the Green Mill I noticed the the bathroom was just the right for some more lighthearted images. As a disclaimer, some of the writing on the walls in the bathroom images below does contain some more “adult” language. But that didn’t stop Marcy and Matt who were doing their best to keep from cracking up while we were going for drama-esque photos in front of urinals. Of course what do you do after a nice romantic morning at a late night bar? Well of course you would head out to the lake front in the middle of winter just as the snow begins for a picnic!
